POLICE CRASH: Two Patrol-Cars Collide

Des Moines police are investigating who was at fault when two department squad cars collided sending three officers to the hospital.

The crash happened around 1:35 a.m. at the corner of East 12th and Washington.

Police say an off duty officer was working in the area; she heard shots fired and called for officers.

Two cars responded to the area. Both cars had their lights and sirens on when they collided in the intersection.

All three officers were taken to the hospital, one was taken by ambulance.

They were all released Sunday morning.

The department is investigating to determine who was at fault.
