Monday night, the Des Moines city council will withdraw from a construction agreement with the Iowa DOT.

The council is deciding not to move forward with a single-lane roundabout at Beaver Avenue and Urbandale Avenue in Beaverdale.

Early studies suggested the roundabout would help with traffic flow and safety.

Members of the neighborhood disagreed and formed a petition against the project, which had received a grant from the DOT.

At Monday night’s meeting the council will amend the project and the funding agreement with the DOT.
