Keeping it Cold…But Drier. Power Still Out in NW Iowa

Ed's Weather Journal

Snow Sign Trees downIt will be cold as we peak out into our Friday morning. We are going to be in the lower 30s. There will not be issues with slick roads in central Iowa. The northern counties could have some slick roads…but travel is very difficult in NW Iowa, South Dakota and Minnesota. Check out travel on roads and in the air before you travel that way the next couple days.

The winter storm pictures are from Russ Mitchell. His folks are from the Lake Park, IA area and those shots show the devastation of the ice that fell on the lines before more snow fell on the ground.
It will be days before some are back with full power.

Here is the Not-So-Fun weather fact of the day. The latest date for over an inch of snow in Des Moines is May 3rd. The latest date for snow accumulation of at least .10″ is May 15th. Annnnnnd the latest date for a trace of snow in Des Moines is May 28th. Happy Spring!!!
