Southeastern Iowa will be in the national spotlight Friday.

The Today Show will air a special report on the impact immigration has had on the town of Ottumwa.

Natalie Morales will report on the town’s growth and diversity since the expansion of its Latino community.

“What we were most pleasantly surprised with is how well integrated everybody is and how much the community in Ottumwa welcomed their new neighbors with open arms and they didn’t want to see a segregated area, they wanted the Latinos to feel like this is your town too,” Morales says.

You can hear more from Morales Friday on Today in Iowa from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. then watch the report on the Today Show at 8 a.m.
