PORK RECALL: Unlabeled Allergen In Iowa Product

An Iowa food company is recalling a pork product because an allergen wasn’t listed on the packaging.

Formosa Food Company, Inc. out of Hull is recalling about 1,133 pounds of pork jerky after an ingredient in the in the soy sauce used to make the product was left off of the label. Wheat is used in the recipe and can cause allergic reactions in some.

The product is called “Formosa Brand Pork Szu(Cooked Seasoned Dried Pork Product) and is sold in 16 oz. packages.  It was sold online and distributed nationwide. The product has the establishment number of “EST. 2446” and was produced up until November, 20, 2012. No expiration date is on the product.

No reports of reactions due to the allergen have been reported to the company.
