Governor Branstad will catch up with an old friend when he visits China next week.
The governor’s office announced Thursday that Branstad will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday during his trade mission to China.
The two first met in 1985 when Xi visited Iowa as a low ranking Chinese official.
Last year Xi returned to Iowa and was welcomed with a lavish dinner at the state capitol.
Branstad says China currently supports 430,000 jobs in Iowa and he’s hoping to convince Xi to support even more jobs here soon.
