Gov. Terry Branstad is meeting with Chinese president Xi Jinping Monday.
During his trip to China, the governor is talking trade with Chinese leaders.
Branstad first met with Xi in 1985, when he was a local party leader traveling on an exchange program through the Iowa sister states program. Xi was in Iowa in February and Branstad honored him with a state dinner at the Statehouse.
Before leaving Friday, the governor said it’s a relationship that’s paid off for both Iowa and China, and he hopes it continues to pay off.
