A bipartisan group of Senators introduced an immigration reform proposal Tuesday.
The bill would create a new legal status for millions of undocumented immigrants, and President Obama urged Congress to move this proposed bill forward.
The Senators proposing this legislation are prepared for a months-long battle; bill sponsor Senator John McCain believes defeat of any of the key provisions in the bill could jeopardize the entire measure. McCain says it was carefully crafted to keep both sides of the aisle and various interest groups on board.
The proposed bill would create a new visa system for temporary ag workers, but deny most federal benefits to immigrants until they achieve permanent status in the United States.
Americans for Tax Reform believe this bill would be a boon to the economy and save taxpayers money instead of cost them more money.
