A formal announcement made it official Monday, Des Moines is about to get Wild.

Des Moines has already had two AHL teams.  Both failed, but everyone says this third time will be different.  A proven winner mixed with NHL ownership equals success.

"What really fortifies this team is… we own this team.  We're invested in Des Moines and in Iowa so it's a perfect partnership," Assistant General Manager Jim Mill explains.

Winning isn’t everything, but when you win fans have a lot more fun.  And the Wild plan on putting a winner on the ice.

Hockey fan Diane Reichenbacher was on hand for the announcement, "I'm so excited I can barely contain myself." She told Channel 13, "I haven't shut up about this the last month about hockey coming to Des Moines."

Let’s just hope the third time is a charm.
