A Boone man accused of killing his wife appeared before a judge Monday afternoon.

Authorities arrested 39-year-old Alex Fazzino earlier this month in Missouri and charged him with first degree murder after a review of autopsy results revealed the cause of death.

Police believe Fazzino drowned or choked his wife Emily at their home in January of 2012.

Fazzino has been in jail since his arrest, being held on $1.5 million cash only bond.

Monday, his attorney asked the Boone County judge to reduce the bond to $50,000, Fazzino’s family was on hand to attest that he wasn’t a flight risk.

The prosecution argued that Fazzino is facing the most serious charge the state has and the bond should actually be raised to $2 million.

The judge will make a ruling on the request Tuesday.
