On the same day Facebook announced a major investment in central Iowa, another tech giant made a similar announcement in western Iowa.

Google says it will invest an additional $400 million in their data center in Council Bluffs. The facility houses computer systems that support services like Google search, G-Mail and Google maps.

With Tuesday’s announcement the company has invested over $1.5 million in the state and will receive $7 million in tax refunds for the most recent expansion.

The project isn’t expected to add new jobs.
