A Sioux City man who shot and killed his two dogs will spend two days in jail.

Fifty-one-year-old Jon Holloway pleaded guilty to reckless use of a firearm and discharging a firearm in the city limits. Holloway also faced two counts of animal cruelty, but those charges were dismissed.

Police say Holloway ordered his two muzzled dogs into separate kennels and then shot them with a rifle.

Holloway told police he thought the dogs were becoming aggressive.

A judge ordered Holloway to serve two days in jail, and pay a fine.
