The House of Representatives will mark up the Farm Bill on May 15.
That is the statement of Frank Lucas, Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee
The initial draft will be the 2012 bill that passed the committee but was never debated by the full house.
He says there will be $16 – $20 billion in cuts to nutrition benefits that will primarily close loopholes where states have qualified recipients for programs that automatically allowed them to receive federal food stamp benefits.
Lucas says there will also be cuts to the Conservation Reserve Program.
