About 100 Iowa National Guard recruits are being called on to help out this weekend.

Their mission is to clean up Big Creek State Park.

The recruits will be working from 7:30 in the morning until noon on Sunday to tidy up the park. They’ll be picking up trash and debris along the lake and trails to prepare the park for its busy season.

The event is called “Guard the Earth”.

Officials say volunteerism and team work help the soldier realize their commitment to helping their communities.
