HEALING WALL: Vietnam Memorial Comes To Newton

A replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is coming to central Iowa.

For the next four days, The Wall That Heals will be in Newton.

The wall arrives Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. at the Jasper County Fairgrounds. Then at 6:00, members of the Patriot Guard and Legion Riders will lead a procession through downtown Colfax and along Highway 6 as the memorial makes its way to Maytag Park.

Wednesday, Newton High School student planning to enlist with the National Guard will help assemble the wall. It will be open to the public on Thursday.

There is an opening ceremony at 6:00 p.m. honoring local veterans and their families.

The memorial will also be open to public viewing this weekend.
