Iowa pork connoisseurs are invited to recognize their favorite place in the state to get some pork tenderloin.
The Iowa Pork Producer Association has begun their annual Best Breaded Pork Tenderloin Contest.
Last year, Breitbach’s Country Dining in Balltown beat out 65 other sandwiches to take home the crown.
Anyone is welcome to nominate a dining establishment, but a restaurant must receive three nominations to make it to the judges table. Officials with the Iowa pork industry will chose a winner based on taste, appearance and physical characteristics.
The IPPA says the contest is important because it recognizes restaurants that support their local pork producers, but it’s also fun. “Judging these juicy, tender, flavorful, mouth-watering sandwiches is a tough job, but someone has to do it,” Marketing and Programs Director Kelsey Sutter said.
A winner will be announced in October.
