A state audit on the University of Northern Iowa’s Events Complex Concessions has revealed missing money.
The auditor says surveillance camera footage shows former Assistant Concessions Director James Kehl taking cash from the safe after a women’s basketball game in February 2012. He was fired the day after he was arrested.
Kehl pled guilty to 4th degree theft charges last June.
The audit found Kehl deposited over $17,000 in cash to his personal accounts between 2007 and 2012. Records show the deposits were even number deposits made within five days of UNI events, but authorities say they can’t definitely connect the cash with the concessions.
