SLICK ROADS: DOT Urges Drivers To Slow Down
The Iowa Department of Transportation is cautioning drivers about slippery road conditions across much of the state.
Heavy, wet snow and sleet is falling in a diagonal line from the southwest portion of the state through northeast Iowa. Three to five inches of snow is expected in some areas, but isolated thunderstorms could cause as much at seven inches of snow to fall in some areas. The DOT says visibility may be reduced to half a mile.
In the southwest, central and north central parts of the state roads are being reported as mostly to completely covered with slush and snow. Keep track of conditions here.
The DOT has crews out working to clear the roads but is reminding drivers to slow down and leave plenty of room to stop if needed.
