After several months of considering a run for Senate in 2014, Congressman Steve King has decided against it.

In a tweet shortly after 9:30 p.m. Friday night King told his followers, “I will not run for Senate in 2014. A Senate race takes me out of urgent battles in Congress that can’t wait until 2015. Many thanks to all.”

The seat he was considering will be vacated by Senator Tom Harkin, who announced his retirement in late January.

So far only democratic Congressman Bruce Braley is a confirmed candidate.
