AGRIBUSINESS: Obama Nominates Mike Froman to Lead USTR

Mike Froman is President Obama’s nomination for U.S. Trade Representative. According to Obama, Froman has established himself as one of the world’s foremost experts on our global economy.

Since the President took office in 2009, Froman held a post as White House Chief International Economic Affairs Advisor. During that time, Obama says Froman has been his point person at global forms and has often been the driving force in organizing international summits where huge amounts of business gets done. In addition, President Obama says Froman acted as a key negotiator alongside former USTR Ron Kirk on free trade agreements with Colombia, Panama and South Korea. Obama says Froman has won the respect of our trading partners around the world and has won a reputation as being an extraordinarily tough negotiator while doing so
