Iowans won’t have to wait until the State Fair for the excitement of a large outdoor concert, the first phase of construction has been completed on an amphitheater just south of Des Moines.

The Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater is set to be the largest amphitheater in Iowa. Located off Interstate 35 at Exit 52, the facility will have a seating capacity of 18,000 and 120 foot wide stage.  Renatta Bolen, President of the Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater, says that the construction is coming along fine despite some setbacks.

“The weather this past winter has pushed our construction timeline, but it has not stopped our progress,” she says. “We have a great crew building the amphitheater and a wonderful group of people putting the event together.”

The amphitheater will open its gates on June 15 and June 16 to its first event, the Heroes and Saints Music Festival.
