Eastside pride was beaming as the High School Foundation opened a new plaza to honor former athletes and coaches.

The Bob Savage Alumni Plaza was a $1.6 million renovation project for Williams Stadium.

The new plaza includes a wall of champions, which recognizes all conference championship teams and state titles, as well as the East Athletic Hall of Fame. There is also a heart of champion’s wall, a memorial wall, and recognition of three hall of fame coaches.

It was an exciting day at East, “It was sad he, Coach Savage, wasn’t here to see it himself, but what a great tribute to a great man. All the state championship players we’ve had recently and in the past, it’s just a great day for East High School,” said East Athletic Director Ric Powell

Grand View University also plays its football games at Williams Stadium.
