An Iowa Utilities Board Member announced Thursday she is considering a run for Iowa’s First District Congressional seat.

Swati Dandekar says she has formed an exploratory committee to look into whether she should run.

A press release from the Iowa Utilities Board explains that Dandekar will not participate in decisions of any contested matters before the board until the exploratory process is finished. She will continue her work with the board on other matters.

The district is currently represented by Democrat Bruce Braley, but he has decided to run for Tom Harkin’s senate seat in 2014.
