The West Des Moines School District is making some changes in leadership.  In a special session Thursday evening the School Board voted to end Superintendent Peter Ansingh’s contract.

Ansingh was given a three year contract when he was hired just two years ago. As part of the separation agreement approved by the school board Thursday he will continue to be paid through June of this year, plus a lump-sum payment of $225,000.

Ansingh released a statement saying, “Due to philosophical differences with a majority of the school board, a decision has been made that I not work the third year of my contract.  Therefore, given the options, I have chosen to accept a severance agreement.”

The school board is now in the process of naming an interim superintendent and creating a transition plan.
