Isolated rain showers and downpours are spinning through Central Iowa. Accumulations will vary widely over small distances, but much of Central Iowa has seen 1 to 2″ of rain over the last 24 hours, mainly between Highway 20 and I-80.
Drier weather will settle in for early Friday as high temperatures slide into the mid-60s. Another push of cold air will arrive on Saturday knocking highs into the lower 60s and setting up Mother’s Day morning for patchy frost in Northern Iowa.
While Des Moines may briefly drop below 40 on Sunday morning, but frost is not expect in the metro. High will rebound quickly next week with the state well into the 80s on Tuesday.
