Governor Branstad signed two bills into law Wednesday evening.

The first requires those convicted of aggravated misdemeanors to submit a DNA sample to the state database. The current law only requires felons and those who commit sex offenses to submit DNA. The change will take effect July 1.

Another new law allows Iowans to renew their drivers’ licenses online. The bill says you can only renew electronically for every other renewal. That new legislation takes effect immediately.
