To honor the one month anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings, students at an Iowa middle school held a run of their own.

About 300 students in Bettendorf took part in a one mile Run For Boston event on Wednesday.

Each student wore a special green bib for the run.

Organizers say the students completed the mile for all the Boston runners who couldn’t.

The explosion killed three people and left hundreds of others injured. The suspects in the case are Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his younger brother Dzhokhar. Tamerlan died in a shootout with police and Dzhokhar is in prison charged with using a weapon of mass destruction.
