POLICE SHOOTING: Man With Knife Shot By Cop

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is looking into an officer involved shooting in Waterloo.

It happened around 1:00 a.m. on E. 4th Street near Sycamore Street.

Four Waterloo officers located a man with a knife in the 200 block of E. 4th. Police say that man threatened officers and one of them shot at him.

Witnesses say they heard about five shots fired.

“Came to the light and seen a body laying on the ground. I was like oh my God there’s a man laying there and then within seconds there was police everywhere and we were going to drive around the block again and the road is blocked off,” says witness Tory Williams.

Police say the man was transported to Allen Hospital and was taken into surgery. His name and condition have not been released.

The names of the officers involved have not been released.
