Tuesday we broke a record high temperature checking in at 94 degrees in Des Moines and things are on track to break another record – but not for heat.
Providing there are no tornadoes in the state through the end of Wednesday, we’ll break a record for the longest streak with no tornadoes in the state.
The previous record was 355 days with no tornadoes, set in 1956.
The last tornado we saw in Iowa happened on May 24, 2012 in Fayette County. It was an EF-1 with no fatalities or injuries.
Wednesday is the 356th day with no tornadoes in our state.
