Two teens originally charged in juvenile court will now be tried as adults in the brutal carjacking of a Des Moines man.

A hearing began Monday to determine whether Leshaun Murray and Terrance Cheeks would face the first degree robbery charge in adult court. Friday a judge revealed his decision that the two would have their trials in adult court.

The charges stem from a February carjacking that severely injured Mike Wasike. He suffered brain injuries and is still undergoing therapy for his injuries.

Murray and Cheeks were both 15 at the time of the attack and were originally charged as juveniles.

Investigators say 16-year-old Kenneth Barry was also part of the carjacking but is already being charged in adult court on a first degree robbery charge.
