The Sioux City man accused of shooting at a police officer says he’s not guilty of charges against him.

Twenty-one-year-old Jamal Dean entered the plea in court Friday morning.

Dean is charged with attempted murder, assault causing injury, assault on a peace officer, willful injury and going armed with intent. He’s accused of shooting Sioux City police officer Kevin McCormick during a traffic stop April 29th.

McCormick has made a full recovery and is back on the job.

Dean was caught earlier this month in Texas and extradited back to Iowa to face charges in the shooting.
