A 16-year-old is in custody following a shooting near Evelyn Davis Park Thursday night. It happened just after 7 p.m. on the corner of 15th and Carpenter Avenue in Des Moines.

Authorities say a fight broke out between a group of teens.  During the fight, six shots were fired. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Police say they're seeing a pattern of kids committing these crimes.

Des Moines Police Sgt. Jason Halifax says, “it’s a troubling trend, we're not happy to see this obviously, but we are starting to see a bit more of that.”

Ralph Chiodo was at the park when the 16-year-old pulled out the gun. He tried to chase him, but the shooter got away.

He says the neighborhood is frustrated and fed up with the violence. They’re holding a meeting next week to talk about neighborhood improvements.
