The FBI is joining a long list of agencies investigating an Iowa state senator.
According to TheIowaRepublican.com, the main focus of the investigation stems from alleged campaign finance violations.
Milo Republican Kent Sorenson is accused of accepting pay for his work on Michele Bachmann’s presidential campaign in 2011.
Bachmann’s former chief of staff says Sorenson was paid by a third party to skirt the Iowa Senate rule that forbid senators from getting paid on presidential campaigns. Sorenson is also accused of illegally taking a database of homeschooling contacts and using it for the Bachmann campaign.
Sorenson denies both charges.
