Flash flooding in northwest Iowa called for a dramatic rescue of a driver near Alta.

Just before midnight Sunday, rescue crews responded to a call from an 18-year-old woman whose pick-up truck had been swept off the road. She was trapped in the truck in a ditch which was taking on water.

Rushing waters inhibited rescuers from reaching the woman until a nearby resident with an airboat was called to the scene.

The woman was rescued by boat and suffered no injuries.

Authorities remind drivers to never drive on a roadway covered in water, depths are misleading and moving water can easily sweep a car away.
