The organized search for a missing 15-year-old has been suspended.

Law enforcement and volunteers have been searching the difficult terrain in and around the town of Dayton ever since 15-year-old Kathlynn Shepard disappeared while on her way home from school last Monday.

Search efforts Sunday were made even more difficult by the rain, but searchers continued to scan areas of interest as well as the Des Moines River.

Special Agent Bill Kietzman with the Division of Criminal Investigation told the Des Moines Register, they are suspending the search for Kathlynn Monday because they have no new leads and have run out of viable areas to search. They will regroup on Tuesday to decide the next steps in the investigation.

If you have any information that can help police in the search for Kathlynn please call 515-573-1410.
