A water main break has caused the city of Le Grand in Marshall County to issue a boil advisory to residents.

The Department of Natural Resources says a break in a water line may have allowed bacteria to get into the water.

Residents are urged to boil water for one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth or washing dishes.

Officials say once the repair is made the line will be flushed and they will test the water for bacteria before the boil advisory is lifted.

The DNR says the break is unrelated to recent flooding.
