Students are just finishing up their first year at Prairie Trail Elementary School in Ankeny. To mark the occasion they made a big time capsule, Tuesday.
Each class added something different to the stash.
The capsule includes class photos, outfits to show fashion trends, poetry, school supplies and pictures of the technology used in the school.
The time capsule will be opened in 30 years.
“I think it’ll depend on what they have – super jets and flying cars – they’re going to think ‘wow our life is so much better,” said student, Nathan.
Teachers say this project was a great real world learning project.
They had to market the event, plan the day’s ceremony and contact the custodian about where to put the capsule.
