Lawmakers put in overtime to finish an education reform bill last week and now Governor Branstad says he is ready to sign it.
Since returning to office the legislation has been one of Branstad’s top priorities.
It took all session, but the 70-page bill represents a bipartisan compromise. Some highlights include an increase to starting teach pay to $33,500, a new student testing regimen and looser rules for home schooling.
The Governor will sign the bill on Monday at North High school.
