Vehicle access to one of the most popular areas of Ledges State Park has been shut down because of flooding.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the Canyon Road that winds its way through the park is closed because of flooding at the bottom of the road from the Des Moines River. The Lower Road is also closed.
The road that leads down into the canyon is only one-way and the exit of the road onto 255th Street, also known as Oriole Road, is closed because of the water.
The park itself is not closed and access to the campgrounds, trails, and picnicking areas is still available.
