A hearing in Cerro Gordo County District Court on Thursday decided 14-year-old Noah Crooks will spend the next four years in the Eldora State Training School.
Earlier this month, Crooks was found guilty of second-degree murder in the shooting of his mother in March 2012. Crooks shot his mother 22 times.
The Globe Gazette reports Crooks’ attorney, William Kutmus, said his time in the State Training School will be annually reviewed until he’s 18, when a district court judge will decide his fate. Some possibilities include other placement and incarceration.
The Wright County jury found Crooks not guilty of sexual assault of his mother.
