This afternoon another round of storms could pop up east of Interstate-35. A few storms could be strong or even severe in Eastern Iowa, but Central Iowa is looking at a gradual cooldown through the weekend.

Highs will actually be dropping into the 60s by Sunday, with much less humidity. That will allow for a few days to start to dry out a little bit, and let creek and stream levels try to stabilize a bit.

Isolated shower chances will spin through the state at times late Friday and on Saturday, but overall the weekend will be mainly dry.

Another chance for rain and storms will arrive on Tuesday or Wednesday, but we are not expecting to see another round of prolonged, heavy rain.
