CHARITY CLASSIC: Russ Cochran Wins

This is an archived article and the information in the article may be outdated. Please look at the time stamp on the story to see when it was last updated.

A year ago, Jay Haas ran away with the Principal Charity Classic winning by 5 shots at Glen Oaks.

This year, it was a different story with a new course  with new challenges and a much tighter leaderboard coming down the stretch.

It was helped by three solid weather days at the Wakonda Country Club.

Fans mapping out where to watch from...

Russ Cochran makes a big move. The lefty drains the bird to take the outright lead at -9

Defending champion, Jay Haas - just missing the birdie on 18 - shot a 68 on the final day.  Haas finishes at -7.

Mark Calcavecchia and Kirk Triplett both finish the day on -9.

Cochran finishes the day at -11, making him the clubhouse leader.

Only one guy can catch him, Jay Don Blake. Requiring a birdie on the approach to 18, he sticks it within feet of the pin.

Blake gets the opportunity to putt for a playoff. Not today, Blake sends it wide.

Russ Cochran wins the Principal Charity Classic.
