A Johnston softball team was in Oklahoma City for a tournament when the huge EF-5 tornado hit.

The team huddled in a hotel hallway for forty-five minutes while the storm moved through; the closest tornado touched down about twenty miles away from the team’s location.

The players returned to Des Moines Tuesday evening.

We will have more on their story on the Channel 13 News at 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
