The Iowa Board of Regents learned the names of two potential new members on Tuesday.

Governor Branstad named former state Senator Larry McKibben of Marshalltown and construction business owner Milt Dakovich of Waterloo as his appointees to the board.

The move comes after his two previous appointees, Craig Lang and Robert Cramer failed to win approval from the Iowa Senate in April.

Branstad says he selected McKibben due to his legislative expertise and Dakovich for his construction background.

The men will be up for senate confirmation in the 2014 legislative session.

The Regents are charged with managing Iowa’s public universities.
