Snow days pushed the end of the school year into June, but Tuesday marked the last day of class for Des Moines students.
Most schools had a half day filled with plenty of goodies and fun.
At Edmunds Elementary some students are already looking forward to next school year. That is because students and teachers will report to a new school building in the fall.
Teachers have been packing up items for the move.
The new facility is bigger and has room for several new programs.
“The new building will house an English language program for the whole city, a preschool, and multiple classrooms at each grade level. We’re just excited about all the benefits of the new building,” School Improvement Leader Barbara Adams said.
The new school is the first to be built in Des Moines since 2007.
