Ankeny police are looking for the person who ripped off a thrift store over the weekend, but employees say they know who is to blame.
Early Sunday morning, someone got in to the Salvation Army Thrift Store on South Ankeny Boulevard. A small safe containing $300, and the surveillance video were stolen. The thief had a key. Employees believe one of their co-workers, who hasn't shown up for work since the burglary, is to blame.
"He just played a good part, a good role to get a key." Says Manager Brian Russell, "(He) made the right friends and his heart was in the wrong place the whole time and he played us all."
We are not releasing the suspect’s name because police are not confirming whether they believe he is responsible.
