Cleverley Farms produces organic fruits and vegetables in Mingo and has been operating for 85 years. Its owner Larry Cleverly hoped it would become a century farm, but that’s been cast into doubt.

The farm is situated the intersection of Highway 65, Highway 330, and Highway 117. The Iowa DOT says that's a dangerous intersection, and that it needs an overhaul in the form of new ramps or overpasses. The DOT has put two plans forth, and between them, Cleverley Farms could lose all of its roughly two hundred acres.

Cleverley says the response to his situation has been overwhelming. A petition on Change.org to reconsider the DOT's plans has received over two thousand signatures. The period for the proposals ends on Monday.
