It was an all CIML showdown for the Class 3A girls state soccer championship, Saturday.

The final saw the number 1 seed take on the number 2 seed - undefeated Ankeny against Dowling Catholic.

The Maroons were looking for their first title in school history, for the Hawkettes it was the last chance at a title as a one-school district.

On a rainy day at Cownie Complex, Sarah Brandt lit up the game in the 34th minute. Hawkettes lead 1-0 at the half.

Maroons hold off Ankeny the rest of the game thanks in part to goalie Mackenzie Lasnek.

But Dowling can’t get the equalizer.

Ankeny hangs on to complete an undefeated dream season with a 1-0 win over Dowling.  It’s the Hawkettes’ second title in 3 seasons, their last as a one-school district.

Two other champions were crowned Saturday.

Class 1A, Davenport Assumption shut out Sioux City Heelan 2-0.  The Lady Knights win the 1A title for the third straight year.

There isn't a more dominant program in the state than Cedar Rapids Xavier. The Saints crush Sioux City East 5-0 in Class 2A.  Call it an 8-peat – it’s an 8th straight state title for Xavier.
