Power is still out to parts of Wright County due to damage to electric lines from Wednesday’s tornadoes.

Wright County officials say three tornadoes touched down north of Belmond Wednesday afternoon causing extensive property damage. No injuries have been reported from the storms.

Power company crews are working to repair the lines that were brought down by the twisters along Highway 69. The town of Goodell is without power because the lines that supply the town are down.

There are also road closures as debris cleanup begins. Highway 69 is closed north of Belmond and a detour through Belmond is being used. The DOT is posting signs for the detour.

Wright County and Belmond city officials are working together to complete an initial damage assessment so cleanup efforts can be prioritized.
