Just south of the Minnesota border, a terrifying evening for a family turned into a dramatic rescue Wednesday as water threatened to overtake a submerged SUV.

It happened Wednesday night off of Interstate 35 in Worth County, not long after a severe thunderstorm rolled through the area.

Authorities say they spent 45 minutes getting a girl and two women out of the SUV.

All three were examined on scene by first responders and are expected to be okay.
